G-CIVI’s Story….
PLANE SOUQ is proud to announce the launch of its 100% certified and limited edition plane tags from the recently retired British Airways B747 aircraft G-CIVI or otherwise known as the “City of Gloucester” or “Victor India”. G-CIVI boasted an impressive history with the British flag carrier, where it flew for just over 24 years clocking up 14,040 flights and 100,414 flight hours. G-CIVI was first delivered by Boeing to British Airways in the UK on the 2nd May 1996 and from thereon in flew mainly transatlantic routes to major U.S. hub airports, including New York (JFK), Boston (BOS) and San Francisco (SFO). The jumbo was one of BA’s high density configured aircraft consisting of 14 luxury first class seats and 86 comfortable club world seats to cater for the then high demand in business transatlantic travel. G-CIVI’s last commercial flight was from New York on 29 March 2020, before departing for the very last time from London’s Heathrow Airport (LHR) on Wednesday 9th September 2020 at 1604 local time and landing into MOD St Athan Airport (DGX) at 1639 local time where the jumbo was retired.
G-CIVI’s first livery upon delivery was BA’s Landor livery and was later repainted with the special “Oneworld Union Flag” livery. The Oneworld Union Flag Livery has its origin in the “Chatham Dockyard” livery, which was one of the 1997 BA “Project Utopia” tails and was initially applied only to the Concorde. The design was based upon a stylized union flag as flown by English naval commander Lord Nelson who’s fleet was based at the historic Chatham Royal Dockyard. The skin section from G-CIVI has been carefully cut from the union flag tail section capturing the true spirit and essence of this unique and prized aircraft.
PLANE SOUQ’s plane tags are 100% certified aircraft skin and can be traced back to when the aircraft first went into commercial service. We carefully select aircraft skin sections which capture the true colours, graphics and brand for the airlines that they once flew for. The tags from G-CIVI have been carefully cut from the aircraft’s tail section featuring the iconic the blue and red “Oneworld Union Flag” livery. Each tag comes with a unique limited edition serial number with only 500 tags being cut from G-CIVI. All our tags are designed and crafted in the United Kingdom by our highly skilled staff.
REINVESTING: For every G-CIVI tag purchased we donate GBP1.00 to UK based aviation charity – The Air League.
